My new old armchair

my armchair

I finally got my lovely old armchair back from my mom the other week. She has re-upholstered it completely with a fabric that I choose. I love how my flat now is starting to come together since I finally have some furniture to decorate with ;)

I’ve had this armchair forever and it was originally bought by my grandparents back in the days when they where young. I intend to keep it until it falls apart.

I have another armchair that I dragged home from a secondhand store last year, which I will also choose some eclectic fabric to, and have reupholstered by my mom.

BTW – she was asked by the local reupholstering business in her area if she wanted to take over the shop, when he is closing down. You can see why – it’s really beautifully made. (She said no – she already has her own business working as a seamstress).

Welcome to my flat – the flower edition

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

I don’t own many “things”,  don’t believe in hoarding or collecting stagnant energy in form of “stuff”.  Cluttered surfaces are distracting to me, and the more I clean out and give away to charity the more abundant I feel.

One thing I do believe I cannot have too much or too many of is flowers. They make all the difference and bring a lovely energy and endless beauty to my home.

My lazy Sunday

Sunday, November 25th, 2012

I managed to sleep more then 20 hours this weekend. Which is both a bit sad and quite lazy. But very much needed at the moment. I took Sunday off from ordinary activities (which usually involved working on private projects) or socializing – and slept, meditated and just did things I felt for doing. I’ve spent my Sunday listening to Frank Sinatra, making vegan toffee recipe experiments (even carnivore approved!) and  decorating my flat.

Handmade Christmas ornaments bought in Vienna, Austria, a classic.

I love the pattern. I hang these in windows, in nice ribbons.

Christmas hearts

My own handmade hearts, made with paper-clay and then painted with a coerce gold paint with glitter :)

A after and before version next to each other. Saving some non painted versions to add to gift baskets I’m making.

Hyacint bulb

During off the old Hyacinths from last year, which I saved in the closet. For flower arrangements.

Christmas laels

Made my own labels for my gifts.

Styling Christmas Gifts

Working on some of my Christmas gift wrapping, I’m opting for a natural style this year. Not quite finished yet.

My vintage armchair

I got this photo sent to me the other day from my mom. It’s of an old armchair that I’ve had forever. It first cam into my family when my grandparents bought it and have been reupholstered twice for me by my mom. This time I opted for a lush and rich purple fabric with medallion patterns in velvet. The armchair is finally done, but still at my mothers house. I can’t wait to get this down to my flat :)

Vintage silver pendant

This pendant is from the 1920′s. I need to clean it up too.

Vintage forks

With me from my summer travels, I have a few treasures. I don’t only buy stationary, tea or wine – I also try to buy a piece of jewelry from each country I go to. That doesn’t always happen since I’m the picky person. As it now happens, I’m collecting new cutlery for my home. The Sunday vintage market in Tiergrarten Berlin, I digged out 10 lovely silver forks from cirka 1920-1940′s. I’m going to polish them up real good and snap some new pics for you.

Vintage finds

Vintage spoonsI lived without teaspoons for years. I don’t buy things just because I may need them. If I buy something, I have to really, really need it AND I have to love whatever I am buying. I’m happy that I waited. I got 12 vintage teaspoons for £2 at a secondhand shop. Love them. To pieces.

Love my sofa. Found it at a secondhand store for next to nothing. Green velvet and fringes, to cool.
